Marketing and Teaching

I just finished a weekend called the GURU Boot Camp with  Eben Pagan (yes, he's really a Guru!).  I won't go into lots of detail because the point of the course was about online information marketing.  You might be wondering why an educator spent her weekend at a marketing workshop.  The short version is that I am working on online products for teachers.  Since I am a teacher, grew up with teachers and married a teacher, I feel like I have that end of things down, but I needed a jump start into the world of online marketing.  It's a steep learning curve but there is a ton of help out there.  The good marketers are passionate about what they do and here's where we all meet again: they are PASSIONATE about what they do . . . sound familiar teachers?   The crew I hung out with all weekend are also perpetual learners.  (This should also resonate with us.)  So although we (educators) may think we don't have much in common with those marketing types, we actually have ESSENTIAL characteristics.  I would go as far as to to say that if we are not part "salesman" in the classroom, we are probably missing some sales everyday!

We'll talk more about this in the future.  I will also be adding a book discussion day.  I love to add perspectives to my thinking and I hope you will enjoy some of my picks.

In the mean time, here are a few things to consider until we visit here again:

    > Are you a good saleman in the classroom?  . . . hint: are your students buying what you are selling?

Talk About Success - Intro

This is day #1 of my new blog.  If you keep believing in a child even when they make it difficult to do so, come back and visit me - we have alot in common already.  This blog will be primarily about the topic of SUCCESS: what that means to different people, how to get to the vision in your head and the power of a good coach to support your efforts along the way.

I have a blog called maestroeducator.wordpress.com that is just for educators.  Please visit if you love teaching and are passionate about getting it right for your students.
